Making a splash: Two Oceans Aquarium opens its doors once again

Staff and the animals of the much-loved aquarium will once again welcome members, supporters, and visitors between 9.30am and 6pm on weekdays, and from 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays.

Members of the aquarium have enjoyed four exclusive days to visit and say hello to all their favourite animals ahead of its reopening to the general public.

Today, visitors will be able to explore the premises and visit the animals, as well as enjoy delicious coffee and snacks from Bootlegger Coffee Company. The aquarium shop will also be open for visitors to purchase an array of marine-themed merchandise and souvenirs.

The aquarium’s COVID-19 protocols

The aquarium will reopen with a COVID-19 workplace-ready plan in place and a range of health and safety measures per the latest government regulations to ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of all its visitors.

Visitors are encouraged to book and purchase tickets online before their visit and use contactless payment options when purchasing tickets at the aquarium ticket office.

On arrival, all visitors will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and will have their temperatures taken before being allowed to enter the aquarium. All visitors must wear masks for the duration of their visit.

Visitor numbers will be restricted to 50% of the aquarium’s capacity to ensure suitable social distancing and at exhibits, visitors will be required to stand at least two metres apart as per government protocols.

Hand sanitiser will be freely available to all visitors throughout the aquarium and no eating or drinking will be allowed in the facility to ensure visitors keep their masks on at all times.

Cleaning personnel stationed throughout the aquarium will continuously clean and sanitise, focusing on high-contact areas such as door handles, handrails, and the activation buttons of certain exhibits, and there will be regular announcements throughout the day about safety protocols.
