Smoothies: Eating made easy
In spite of all the health benefits of celery i just can’t bring myself to eat raw celery. And this applies to many vegetables. The nutrient content in raw vegetables is higher. It is said that cooking destroys important nutrients found in foods that make up the raw food diet.
Incoperating raw fruits and vegetables into your diets can render numerous health benefits. You will likely have more energy, better skin, improved digestion and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease once you get used to eating raw food.
We all want all these health benefits but if you’re like me and you struggle to eat raw vegetables such as celery and asparagus, then I think we need a creative and delicious to get the nutrients into our bodies.
Why drink smoothies
I believe that a smoothie is a good way of ingesting raw foods especially vegetables. A smoothie is a drink made from pureed raw fruits and vegetables. Smoothies are full of nutrients and flavor.
It is no secret that in our modern daily life, we are not consuming the suggested daily intake of fruits and vegetables. However, by blending yourself a smoothie made up of fruits, vegetables and super-foods, you would easily be able to get your daily intake of nutrient-dense foods.
As a result, you can increase your vitamin, mineral and antioxidant intake to strengthen your immune system.
Here are my top three smoothie recipes:
- Pineapple and celery smoothie
- Broccoli and fruit explosion smoothie
- Cauliflower smoothie
