Lockdown challenge: Now is the time for us to be ‘amateurs’
Most of us have forgotten about how it feels like to be bad at something and to actually embrace our failing attempts. We all want to be seen as the “perfect expert”.
The world’s frequent technological advancements have forced us to strive for perfection. We strive to get the perfect body, perfect smile and the perfect life.
Time to relax or take the next step
We never want anybody to see us look bad or be bad at something. We want to nail everything on our first attempts. But the coronavirus pandemic is forcing us to do some self-introspection.
Many of us are realising that we are not the perfect individuals that we post about on social media.
The pandemic is a horrible phenomenon and I don’t want you to think that I am not acknowledging that. However, it has presented us with time that we can use to either relax or learn something.
Do that one thing that you feel you will be terrible at
So when was the last time that you actually learnt something new? Do you still remember how it feels like to attempt something at first and suck at it? I want you to use this time to do something that you have been wanting to do, but felt like you wouldn’t have been able to.
Do that one thing that you feel you will be terrible at. Do not be afraid to seem like an amateur. Do not be afraid to not know the next step. Now is the time for us to be amateurs. To indulge in those scary ideas.
Be an amateur, make mistakes, learn and keep growing.
