Lifestyle changes that help you look and feel young again
When we were young, we wanted to be adults. Adulting looked so cool. Now that we are adults, we wish we could go back to our childhood. Unfortunately it’s impossible. Growing up comes with its joys, as well as its pains. Some of its pains being wrinkles, painful joints, and many other things.
I have seen people who are in their 60s look like they are still in their 40s. The sight of wrinkles on their faces and hands is rare, their bodies are so youthful. What is their secret? What are they doing that no one else is doing? If I had an option to look as I look now for the rest of my life, I’d definitely grab it with both hands. But I know with time, age will catch up with me.
So what are the secrets to looking young? Below I’ll look at some of the things that people who maintain their youthfulness do.
1. Drink plenty of water
Remember how hard to was to drink water when we were younger? Well, after understanding that water flushes out toxins from our bodies drinking water became way much easier. Drinking six to eight glasses of water each day helps you stay hydrated. Dehydration causes skin to become dry and wrinkled. Remember to also reduce your alcohol and coffee intake.
2. Exercise
We cannot deny impact exercise has on maintaining a youthful look. Exercise increases blood flow, moving oxygen and nutrients to working cells in the body. Exercise also helps improve memory and brain function. And if you’re having hot flushes as a result of menopause, exercise can also help you with that.
3. Good skin care routine
Skin that is well taken care of speaks for itself. It’s important to find products that are suitable for your skin type. If you have dry skin, make sure you find good moisturising products. A good skin routine doesn’t have to be expensive when you consider the range of products we have on the market today. One product can be used as a scrub, mask and exfoliator, which is value for money.
4. Eat plenty of greens
We all know that by eating greens we obtain primary nutrients in their natural form. Fruits and vegetables also boost your intake of important phytonutrients that help defend against damaging free-radicals.
5. Get enough protein
In order to build collagen and elastin, the body needs enough protein. Instead of snacking on chips, rather eat some yogurt.
6. Increase your intake of the good fat
Not all fat is bad. Omega-3 fatty acids found in oily fish, nuts, and seeds have been associated with slowing a key biological process known as telomere. Shortening that results in tissue damage and visible signs of aging.
7. Get enough rest
When you don’t get enough sleep, you look less attractive and less healthy and you also lose brain tissue. Sleeping helps you look and stay young.
Lifestyle changes can be hard, but the benefits are undeniably good. Start practising self love now, and see the results later.
