Are you the next face of Miss South Africa? The 2020 entries are open

Miss South Africa organisers believe that lockdown may result in a record number of applicants, and an increased interest in the pageant which celebrates its 62nd anniversary this year.

“Face your power. Embrace your future” is the tagline of the Miss South Africa competition. But what do you need to know if you are interested in entering?

The history of Miss South Africa

Current titleholder, Zozibini Tunzi who later went on to take the Miss Universe title, looks to hand over her crown to a new recipient. The platform promotes women empowerment and has been in existence for over sixty years.

The beauty pageant has launched the careers of many South African socialites and has had three past title holders win Miss Universe; Zozibini Tunzi (2019), Demi-Leigh Nel Peters (2017) and Margeret Gardener (1978).

Miss South Africa also boasts three title winners that have become Miss World, the world’s oldest beauty pageant. Rolene Strauss (2014), Anneline Kriel (1974) and Penelope Coelen (1958).

Will your name be next to be featured in the Miss South Africa hall of fame?
