Gauteng weather: Warnings issued for heavy rain and flooding
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a weather update for Gauteng, Mpumalanga and North West, warning about the possibility of continued downpours and flooding on Saturday 4 April
Johannesburg weather update – 4 April 2020
According to the SAWS, “localised flooding due to persistent rain is expected in Gauteng”. The alert was issued for the period between 11:00 and 20:00.

Heavy rain is also expected in Tswhane, with the City of Tshwane warning that “bridges mostly in Centurion, Capital Park and Pretoria West are closed”.

The South African Weather Service warns that flooding can also be expected in Mpumalanga: “Heavy rain, leading to localised flooding is expected over the southern Highveld”.

The SAWS warns of flash flooding in the extreme eastern parts of the North West province today. The alert will be active between 14:00 and 18:00 on Saturday 4 April 2020.
