It is not clear, at this time, what the motivations behind her actions were but from the dialogue heard in two clips that have gone viral, the fight may have escalated from a fiery exchange.
In the first clip, the girl could be heard hurling out slurs and throwing punches at her fellow pupil who was trying, by all means, to protect her face from the pummelling.
The crowd that had gathered to watch the fight only intervened after the victim had taken a number of blows. However, the torture was far from over.
Another clip surfaced showing the Gauteng bully pouring a thick white liquid over the victim’s head, while onlookers laughed on without bothering to come to the pupil’s aid.
“School’s governing body will be dissolved” – Lesufi
The Gauteng Education MEC revealed that after consulting the victim’s family, it was decided that the right course of action was to take matters to the courts.
Lesufi confirmed that the victim was going to receive free counselling. However, the MEC made it clear that most of the blame for this incident has been placed on the Modiri Secondary School Governing Body (SGB).
He indicated, without furnishing any substantive reasoning, that he would initiate the process of dissolving the board following this incident.
The girl accused of assault has not been granted permission to return to school. Instead, she is expected to appear before the courts on Friday.
