EFF People’s Assembly: Supporters gather at Nasrec for EFF’s elective conference [photos]

The conference is set up to facilitation the election of new leadership. The posts of party leader, secretary-general and deputy president are expected to be the most contested positions.

The theme of this year’s event is “Consolidating the ground towards socialist power”. Malema was confident ahead of the event, saying that he had “never lost a conference.” He added:

“Just go and check my track record, I’ve never lost a conference. You should know that. Not only in the youth or EFF, even in the ANC when I said this is what’s going to happen, it happened exactly how I said it’s going to happen. I am prepared to work with anyone the conference elects […] I will subject myself to the leadership which is elected.”

EFF People’s Assembly timetable

The elective conference kicked off on Friday 13 December with two media briefings, one of which was the State of Readiness. Malema will deliver the Political Report at 13:00 on Saturday.

The second media briefing for the day – addressing the organisational report and presentation of Constitutional amendments – will be delivered at 18:00 in the Nasrec media lounge, followed by the third media briefing at 22:00.
