Gauteng police are on the hunt for three suspects alleged to have been involved in the heinous killings that took place at Intaba Tavern (previously known as Jabu’s Place), near Parkway Drive, in Eldorado Park.

What happened at the Eldorado Park tavern?

As reported by Times Live, three armed men, masked in balaclavas, allegedly entered the buzzing tavern and held up the owner, demanding cash and other valuables.

According to the police, the robbers made it off with an undisclosed amount of money as well as the owner’s cellphone — but they were not done.

Without warning, the three armed suspects randomly shot at the crowd, hitting at least seven people. Five of the victims died on the scene, while two others — a male and female — were rushed to a nearby hospital for critical treatment.

A video showing the aftermath of the mass shooting was posted on Twitter a day later. The bloodcurdling screams of the victims’ families and survivors could be heard as the camera panned around the bloody tavern.

Gauteng police call on the public for assistance

Soon after making their escape, it’s believed that the robbers clashed with a patrolling police van.

“Police officers who were patrolling the area escaped unharmed after random shots were allegedly also fired in their direction. The state vehicle was damaged as a result of the shooting,” the police noted in a statement.

The suspects are still at large and Eldorado Park police have warned those with information to contact authorities immediately by calling Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Officers are also in search of the person responsible for recording the graphic video that has gone viral on social media.

“In the meantime, police have also noted with concern a video clip circulating on social media, purporting to have been captured just after this shooting incident. The person who filmed the incident is called upon to contact the police as any piece of information could add value to the investigation,” the police said.
