South Africa vs Sudan: Last time out [video]

South Africa and Sudan face off once again at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Bafana are third in Group C of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers after losing to Ghana on Thursday.

They come up against a side sitting on the summit of the group in their bid to get of the mark.

Sudan thrashed Sao Tome e Principe in their opening match of the qualifiers, winning 4-0 at home.

They now have to face a side they are yet to beat after two previous meetings.

Both their past encounters were at the Afcon qualifiers, with their first meeting in Sudan.

There, South Africa pulled off a comfortable victory, winning 3-0.

It was thanks to two goals from Sibusiso Vilakazi, plus one from former Orlando Pirates striker Bongani Ndulula.

The return leg happened at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

It was once again Bafana who prevailed on that occasion, but in less convincing style compared to the last clash between the two sides.

Goals on either side of the half time whistle set the hosts on their way, before a nervous finish caused by what would turn out to be a consolation goal from the visitors.

Thulani Serero, present in the current squad, was on target on that day, along with Tokelo Rantie, who was enjoying a purple patch in national colours under Shakes Mashaba.
