Nurkovic hails “fighting spirit” as Chiefs thump Stellenbosch
Kaizer Chiefs brushed off their recent cup disappointment with a commanding victory in the league, and two-goal hero, Samir Nurkovic was pleased with the character shown in their display.
The Serb scored goals at either side of the break to help his side to a 4-0 win over Stellenbosch FC in Cape Town on Wednesday night.

This restored their lead at the top of the table back to ten points as they focus their energy on the league, following their Telkom Knockout semi-final exit.
Nurkovic says the performance against the Premiership newcomers was due to teamwork and fighting spirit.
“Once again, I’m very happy to have scored these two goals, to contribute to the victory. I also want to congratulate my teammates for a very good effort and teamwork. Once again, we have shown our character, our fighting spirit, we’re happy,” Nurkovic said.

The brace saw the Serb move up the PSL top goal scorers list, now on five goals in ten matches.
Despite his individual influence, he credited the team’s resurgence to a family environment in the camp, and expressed awe at their support, which outnumbered the home fans once more.
“I think teamwork and the support for each other. We’re one big family and this is very important for every team. When you feel at home, whether you’re off the pitch or on the pitch, for me personally, I feel very good at Kaizer Chiefs.
“Also, to mention we have the best fans in the world, whether we’re playing at home or away we feel like we’re playing at home. So, I want to thank them for the support. I appreciate the love and their support.
“There’s no title that any team has won in November. There’s still a lot of games to play. We just need to continue with the same spirit, and in the end, it will be okay for us I’m sure.”

They return to Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban – the scene of one of their back-to-back Soweto derbies – where they will host Bloemfontein Celtic.
The game kicks off at 20:15 (SAST).
