Sophie Lichaba Joins Lockdown
Mzansi Magic's award-winning drama series, Lockdown has not only made impeccable strides in the script department but also its casting.
The cast of the show is largely filled with iconic and crème de la crème performers. From the likes of Pamela Nomvete, Lorcia Cooper, Dawn Thandeka King and Nomsa Buthelezi (to mention a few).
In their quest to secure only the finest on-screen talent for the drama series, the audience were treated to a thrilling performance by American actress, Tichina Arnold on season 3.
The good news is that Mzansi Magic has renewed Lockdown for season five, and keeping in line with new and interesting additions to the cast, viewers will be introduced to a new face - Sophie Lichaba!
The former Generations actress is set to join the popular drama series for season five, which will start airing on 31 January 2020, only on Showmax.
Since losing a noticeable amount of weight last year fue to diabetes, Sophie has been reported dead on social media repeatedly, most recently as she started filming for Lockdown.
The SAFTA winner is unfazed by the fake news, saying, “I’m just excited to be tackling such a challenging role on one of the biggest shows in the country.”
Not much has been revealed about Sophie's character but knowing her acting prowess, we are convinced that she will absolutely kill the role.
"We haven’t seen Sophie in a while on South African television,” said Lockdown creator Mandla N, who is still directing every episode of the hit show. “But you could have said the same about Lorcia or Pamela when we cast them, and they’ve both reclaimed their places among the biggest stars in South Africa.”
