Orlando Pirates latest INJURY updates ahead of ‘Downs clash!

Mamelodi Sundowns welcome Orlando Pirates to Loftus Versfeld for a blockbuster DStv Premiership clash tonight.

The Brazilians are yet to lose heading into their 17th league match of the season while Orlando Pirates will be buoyed by the fact that they’ve gone seven matches without tasting defeat.

Mamelodi Sundowns sit in first position on the DStv Premiership log standings, 15 points ahead of their closest rivals Kaizer Chiefs. The Buccaneers sit one point behind the Glamour Boys in third position.

Orlando Pirates latest team news

The Buccaneers are set to be without Vincent Pule, Richard Ofori and Zakhele Lepasa all through long-term injuries while Happy Jele and Goodman Mosele who both just returned to training may lack the necessary match sharpness for match of such magnitude.

The good news for Orlando Pirates is that talisman Thembinkosi Lorch is back to full fitness while the likes of Gabadinho Mhango and Ben Mothswari are steadily returning to full match fitness as well.

Vilakazi wary of Shandu threat

“Orlando Pirates are a side that has momentum and we’re looking forward to playing them at home,” Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Vilakazi said as quoted by Kick-off.

“Bandile Shandu has been getting into good goalscoring opportunities, where I think he’s had back-to-back games where he has scored. We have to look after him as he is a threat, then Deon Hotto as well who is a player has been scoring goals so, of course, is a threat.

“But not only the guys who are scoring because they have to get into those positions first so the four players at the back have been consistent in their last three games. Even their midfield has been consistent with minimal rotation which has been giving Orlando Pirates a bit of momentum.

“Each team has their strong points and especially Shandu who has been scoring with added assists has been important for them recently.”
