KZN families assisted after the devastation caused by recent storms
Families in KwaZulu-Natal who were affected during the recent storms have been assisted with building material and food parcels.
THE CITY WILL SPEND ABOUT R19.7 MILLION
According to eThekwini Municipality’s spokesperson, Mluleki Mntungwa said the City would spend about R19.7 million to rebuild and repair severely damaged infrastructure.
About 250 families were hard-hit by the storm in nine eThekwini wards.

ABOUT 250 FAMILIES WERE HARD-HIT BY THE STORM
“As part of eThekwini Municipality’s storm disaster relief intervention programme, about 130 families from Ntuzuma were provided with building material this afternoon.
“EThekwini Municipality Speaker Councillor Thabani Nyawose led the intervention programme, which kicked off with an inspection of homes and infrastructure that were damaged by a severe storm earlier this week,” Mntungwa said.
FOOD PARCELS WERE DISTRIBUTED TO AFFECTED FAMILIES
Food parcels were also distributed to affected families.

Councillor Nyawose said after conducting an inspection of the affected areas, an intervention plan was formulated and outlined for implementation.
“As a caring City, we are assisting affected families in rebuilding their lives. The budget will be used to repair and rebuild. We will supply building material and repair damage to infrastructure,” he explained.
GRIEVING FAMILIES WILL BE SUPPORTED
Councillor Nyawose also visited and pledged support to two grieving families from Ward 42 and 56 whose teenaged children died last week.
