Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with possible heavy downpours leading to localized flooding over the interior of the Eastern Cape which may result in damages to infrastructure, property, settlements, vehicles and livestock.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

  1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Karoo Khai-Ma Municipality in the Northern Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with isolated showers but scattered in the south in the morning and afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with early morning drizzle along the escarpment and isolated afternoon showers on the western Highveld. It will be warm in the Lowveld areas.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with early morning drizzle along the escarpment and isolated showers in the south-western Bushveld from late morning, becoming partly cloudy in places from late afternoon. It will be warm in places in the west and in the Lowveld.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Cloudy, windy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the east.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy, windy and cool with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in the east. Isolated and scattered showers and thundershowers are expected over the central parts but widespread in the east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly, by strong in the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool but warm over the interior with mist along the west coast in the morning. Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers can be expected over the central and eastern parts in the afternoon including the south coast by late afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-westerly in the west but light westerly in the south becoming strong easterly to south-easterly by afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half Temperature: Cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the east.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

The Eastern half Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with widespread showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east.

The Eastern half Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong north-easterly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly, becoming strong to near gale south of Durban in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
