SA Rugby and Erasmus were formally charged by the world governing body after the latter produced an extraordinary 62-minute-long video criticising match officials following the Springboks’ 22-17 defeat to the British & Irish Lions in the first Test of their three-match series at the Cape Town Stadium in July.

In a statement earlier this month World Rugby confirmed that the misconduct hearings will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 30-31 October 2021.

Those dates are exactly a week before the Springboks kick off their three-match end of year tour against Wales in Cardiff on 6 November.

The hearing will be chaired by Independent Judicial Panel chairperson Christopher Quinlan QC and the panel will include two New Zealanders in Nigel Hampton QC and Judge Mike Mika.
