Hugo Broos not expecting much from Percy Tau v Ghana?
New Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos offered some concerning post-match comments regarding star player Percy Tau after seeing his side held to a goalless draw by Zimbabwe in their opening 2022 Soccer World Cup qualifier last Friday.

The match in Harare ended in a stalemate and Tau, who recently signed for Egyptian giants Al Ahly, was substituted in the 78th minute for Sipho Mbule.
Tau didn’t have his best outing with Broos believing that was down to his poor physical condition.

“Gift Links didn’t have a big impact on the game during the first half, so we replaced him at half-time,” Hugo Broos said.
“As for Percy Tau, you watched the match, he’s not in his best physical condition.
“Tau lacked coordination, this is something he’ll have to work on in the coming weeks, but he remains a special player and that is why he stayed on the pitch for a longer time.
“I hope Percy Tau will be in better shape in the next two international breaks in October and November,” Broos concluded.

While Broos will unquestionably be hoping for just that, it may well be too late for Bafana Bafana and their dream of qualifying for Qatar next year.
Tau and his Bafana Bafana team-mates will be back in action as soon as Monday, 6 September when they take on Ghana in a ‘can’t lose’ second qualifier at the FNB Stadium at 18:00.
Ghana currently top Group G after beating Ethiopia 1-0 in their opening clash.

A loss for Bafana Bafana would see the Black Stars jump to six points, five ahead of Bafana Bafana who would still need to travel to West Africa for the return match.
Only the 10 group winners progress to the next phase to determine the five African nations to represent the continent at the 2022 Soccer World Cup.
