Eastern Cape village viciously attacked – three killed, 18 homesteads destroyed
Police are investigating what led to the vicious attack on the Tyeni village in the Eastern Cape, which led to the deaths of three men and a total of 18 homesteads destroyed.
THREE BODIES WERE FOUND NEAR THE VILLAGE WITH GUNSHOTS WOUNDS
Police spokesperson Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe said the community had vacated the area, fearing for their safety.
“On Sunday, police visited the areas on allegation of faction fighting between groups from the Gangata, Siphusiphu, Ziphondo, Maqhinebeni, and Mhlotsheni areas attacking the Tyeni community.”
Approximately 18 homesteads were damaged and burnt down during the attack in the Eastern Cape.
Matola-Mvanyashe said the forest near the village was searched, and two bodies were found.

A third body was later discovered. All three deceased were men. All victims sustained gunshot wounds.
One victim survived the attack and was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
Formal identification is yet to be conducted.
“Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder.”
Meanwhile a partially decomposed foetus was discovered on Saturday about 5 meters from a sewerage outlet drain in Kabega Park, Gqeberha.
POLICE SUSPECT THE FOETUS FOUND IS A BOY
Police said the SAPS Kabega Park detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing the mother of a foetus.
“It is alleged that at about 13:30 on the mentioned date, a partially decomposed foetus was discovered about 5 meters from a sewerage outlet drain with the umbilical cord still attached.
“The drain is in a bushy area at the back of a quarry in Mission Road in Greenbushes.”
Police suspect that the gender of the foetus is that of a boy.
Police said a case of concealment of birth is under investigation.
