Calls for South Africans to ‘ignore lockdown’ – after ANC, EFF break rules
Natasha Mazzone has insisted that all South Africans should enjoy the same freedoms as those who attended ANC and EFF rallies this week – as both events made a mockery of the current lockdown laws.
ANC, EFF flout lockdown laws – fuelling calls for civil disobedience
In both public gatherings, the 500-person capacity limit was broken comfortably on each occasion. Mask wearing was at a premium. Social distancing was barely enforced at the twin manifesto launches.
That’s why the firebrand DA representative is kicking off: Lockdown, in her opinion, shouldn’t be an optional practice people can just waltz in and out of. Mazzone also believes that the ANC are the biggest piss-takers of the two, given that the ruling party has enforced severe restrictions on the public for more than 18 months beforehand.
Natasha Mazzone slams ‘unfair rules’ for political parties
The opposition’s Chief Whip has lashed out at the ‘double standards’, and she now says that no South African ‘can be expected to live under the same lockdown laws’ while certain people are allowed to ignore them.
“Numerous images and videos circulated across social media of the EFF and ANC’s campaign events, which displayed a disregard for lockdown regulations such as the 500-person outdoor limit, mask-wearing, and social distancing.”
“The ANC has clearly exempted itself and the EFF from lockdown regulations but is imposing it on everybody else, to the detriment of the economy and individual rights and freedoms. This double standard cannot continue.”
“We cannot have one set of rules for the ANC and EFF and another set of rules for everyone else. If the ANC cannot adhere to its own senseless rules, then it cannot expect South Africans to continue to live under those rules either.”
