VUYO DABULA ON TURNING DOWN ROMANTIC SERIES

The Queen Sono star explained that he turned down romantic series because he wanted to stay true to himself as an actor and his brand.

“A lot of people have their restrictions, you can’t lose yourself as an actor you wanna be versatile, you wanna be able to do everything, but at the same time an actor is just like any other guy, we’d have our roots in something, So you can’t turn your back on yourself and what you stand for,” said Dabula.

He also mentioned that religion played a role in this as he was Chrisitian at the time. However, he said that he is no longer Christian therefore his belief system is not the same and this allowed for him to play out romantic scenes with Pearl Thusi on Netflix’s Queen Sono.

“I think when someone said oh he is sexy, then I think maybe you know, that kind of you know, got their attention,” said Dabula.

“But before then, I was just like a dude nje, I was like the shiest painfully shy dude you will ever meet, I think they’re not interested in that sort of thing, I think with the whole Generations thing and the awards that came after that, then that was like okay cool,” he continued.

“So suddenly I was like somewhere having my ice cream and people are screaming and I was like what, what whose there? No but it was you,” he added as he laughed.
