The 28-year-old forward moved to the Brazilians in July having played a massive role in Maritzburg United avoiding relegation from the DStv Premiership last season thanks to his 12 goals.

In an interview at the MTN8 media day in Durban, Middendorp admitted it was tough to lose a player of Kutumela’s quality and influence, but he wanted to play CAF Champions League football and they could not stand in his way.
