Chatsworth fatal rock-throwing attack: Culpable homicide case investigated
Police said on Saturday that they were investigating a case of culpable homicide after a man was brutally killed and robbed when attackers threw a rock on his car on the Higgonson Highway in Chatsworth.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said the matter is still under investigation.
Karou Charou, South African comedian and also the spokesperson of the National Indian Congress of South Africa confirmed on Saturday that Phildon Chetty was tragically murdered in a rock-throwing incident on the Higgonson Highway in Chatsworth.
PHILDON WAS ROBBED AFTER HE WAS KILLED
Charou said in a statement on social media on Saturday that the incident happened at around 2 am.

“The bridge in question is the pedestrian bridge near the Hare Krishna temple that leads into the now derelict railway station. The rock struck Mr. Chetty on his head, causing his neck to snap. He was subsequently robbed.”
He said Chetty was not stabbed as some posts on social media suggest.

CHATSWORTH POLICE ALLEGEDLY RECORDED THE MURDER AS AN ACCIDENT
“The police record this incident as an accident. There is no category for rock-throwing.
Charou said furthermore said he has offered his assistance to the family in dealing with this incident.
“Also we as the public need to be more vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel late at nite or early hours of the morning. My sincere condolences to the bereaved family. A sad, unnecessary loss of life.”
Chatsworth police could not yet comment or confirm the murder.
