The Glamour Boys recently confirmed the signing of the Dube Birds’ reigning Defender of the Season, Njabulo Ngcobo, on a three-year deal to help bolster their ailing last line of defence which leaked 37 goals in 30 DStv Premiership matches last season.

Part of that signing, according to the Soccer Laduma website, involved a swap deal with one of three Kaizer Chiefs players heading to Swallows.

The three Amakhosi players identified at the time were Yagan Sasman, Philani Zulu and Dumisani Zuma.

The latest news is that Swallows have now selected the player they’d most like to help fill the void left by Ngcobo’s departure: Yagan Sasman.

The 25-year-old Cape Town-born full-back is still contracted to Kaizer Chiefs for one more season (until June 2022).

Should both parties agree to a deal, Sasman could be heading to the Dobsonville Stadium for the final year of his Amakhosi contract.

Of course, the final decision rests with newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter who has signed no fewer than four defenders this off-season, namely Ngcobo, Sifiso Hlanti, Sibusiso Mabiliso and Austin Dube.

To help balance his squad – and the Kaizer Chiefs payroll – Baxter will need to offload players.

Sasman was deemed surplus to requirement for large parts of Gavin Hunt’s time at Naturena.

Both clubs will want to find common ground ahead of the new season which is tentatively penciled in to start on Saturday, August 14 – just over three weeks away at time of publishing.
