‘Bridgerton’: Filming paused as crew member tests positive for COVID-19

Filming for season two of Netflix’s popular series Bridgerton took a short pause after a crew member tested positive for COVID-19.

‘BRIDGERTON’ ON SHORT PAUSE

The filming of Bridgerton season two had to be put on ice due to an unknown crew member testing positive for COVID-19.

“That’s a logistical nightmare in terms of trying to keep staff safe, prevent an outbreak or contain one when it’s been identified,” said a source to The Sun

“It’s also a headache for producers because removing cast or crew and putting them into isolation means they have to be replaced at short notice, and that’s not always possible,” the source continued.

“Netflix have gone to great lengths to ensure all the relevant measures are in place on Bridgerton, but this just goes to show how difficult it is for such a  large set to be completely COVID-secure,” the source added.

According to Deadline, the “pause” was just for 24 hours as the crew member went into isolation and everyone working on the Bridgerton set was tested for the virus. No cast members have been affected. Production has reportedly resumed.

Bridgerton is produced in the United Kingdom (UK) by American television company Shondaland led by American television producer Shonda Rhimes. The series follows Julia Quinn’s best selling novels. The series is filmed on various locations but this week production took place at Wrotham Hall, which is an 18th century pile in Hertfordshire, Southern England. Filming had been split between the grand house and studios in Uxbridge in West London.

REGÉ-JEAN PAGE’S EMMY NOMINATION

Season one of the series was a hit as it became Netflix’s biggest series yet. Bridgerton was watched by 82 million households and grabbed the attention of reality star Kim Kardashian who said she was “not okay” after learning that the series most popular character, the Duke of Hastings played by Regé-Jean Page is not returning for season two. The Duke was a fan favourite and many fans were heartbroken by the news.

Regé-Jean Page’s love story with Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor took centre stage in the first season while the second season shifts focus to the love life of her brother, Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey. His love interest is the headstrong Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley.

Regé-Jean Page said goodbye to the series on a high note. He was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Simon Basset on Bridgerton at the 73rd annual Emmy Awards. Bridgerton, in total, received 12 Emmy nominations. Bridgerton has also been renewed for season three and four.
