IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. A Yellow Level 2 Warning for Severe Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy downpours, which may lead to localized flooding of low lying bridges and roads, strong winds leading to localized damage to informal houses(roofs) and falling trees, and excessive lightning that may lead to localized injuries to livestock and humans, are expected over the Mhlathuze, uMfolozi, Mtubatuba and the Big Five Hlabisa Municipalities of KZN, mainly in the early morning.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but cold over the eastern Highveld with isolated light morning showers in the south-east. It will be warm in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Fine and warm but partly cloudy in the east.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and cool.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine and cool, becoming partly cloudy in the east.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and cool to warm.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-easterly south of Hondeklip Bay at first, otherwise fresh to strong.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Fine in places over the interior at first, otherwise cloudy to partly cloudy and cool to warm with morning fog in the west and south-western parts.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to southeasterly north of Table Bay, reaching fresh north of Cape Columbine by the afternoon, otherwise moderate to fresh north-westerly, reaching strong at times.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Partly cloudy in the morning, otherwise fine and cool, but cloudy along the Tsitsikamma coast from the evening.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Cloudy in the morning, otherwise fine and cool.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but cold in places in the west. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the north and east, but scattered in the north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
