Buoyed by their CAF Champions League quarter-final qualification, it took two games for the Glamour Boys to display their full potential in a 2-1 defeat of Mamelodi Sundowns after drawing with Baroka FC and losing to Cape Town City.

But a 1-0 loss to Chippa United knocked Gavin Hunt’s side back down to earth, leaving them in ninth place on 28 points with six games of the season left to play.

Bloemfontein Celtic, meanwhile, are three places and just two points worse off in 12 position, having recorded just one win in five, over TS Galaxy in April before three successive 1-1 draws and a 1-0 defeat to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila last time out.

Ahead of the game, Bloemfontein Celtic defender Justice Chabalala said on SuperSport: “We are looking forward to the match because we lost our previous game which was against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. So, this game is very important for us.

“We will give our all against Kaizer Chiefs. Plus this one is at home. So, we have to do everything possible to get the maximum points at home.”

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo added: “I came back in our game against Chippa United, but things didn’t go our way – we lost the game. But we should have scored a few goals in the first 30 minutes, but we didn’t.

“So now we just have to focus on our next game which is against Bloemfontein Celtic. It won’t be easy, but we are prepared and we are going to make sure that we go there and get maximum points.”
