South Africa’s Tokyo Olympics fixtures, dates, kick-off times confirmed

South Africa have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Japan, Mexico and France for the Tokyo Olympics football tournament.

South Africa are one of three African countries scheduled to take part at the Tokyo Olympics.

Egypt were drawn in Group C along with Spain, Argentina and Australia, while Ivory Coast will contest Group D with Brazil, Germany and Saudi Arabia.

SA under-23 coach David Notoane has named a 40-man preliminary squad for the Tokyo Olympics.

Each country at the Olympics will be allowed a total of three over-23 players to supplement their side

Percy Tau, Themba Zwane, Ricardo Goss, Thapelo Morena, Mothobi Mvala, Mosa Lebusa and Ronwen Williams were all named in the SA squad as over-age players.

South Africa will kick off their campaign for gold against hosts Japan on Thursday, 22 July at the Tokyo Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 13:00 SA time.

On Sunday, 25 July South Africa will play France at the Saitama Stadium with kick-off set for 10:00 SA time.

South Africa will wrap up their Group A commitments against Mexico at the Sapporo Dome on Wednesday, 28 July at 13:30 SA time.

The top two teams in each of the four groups will progress to the quarter-finals.
