‘South Africans must vote against corruption’ – Cyril Ramaphosa
We just wonder if Cyril Ramaphosa is speaking on behalf of the entire ANC, here? The president has left himself open for some very snarky feedback, after he encouraged voters to turn their back on corrupt politicians at this year’s Local Elections. The 68-year-old made the call on the eve of his first State Capture Inquiry appearance.
Cyril Ramaphosa calls for voters to reject corruption – with impeccable timing…
Ramaphosa is due to share testimony on multiple acts of corruption committed by government officials during ‘The Zuma Years’. Cyril himself served as Deputy President as the Guptas ran riot, but the ANC leader says he was ‘oblivious’ to any criminal dealings between public servants and the Indian billionaires.
We’ve also got the deadline for Ace Magashule’s ‘step aside’ resolution coming this week – and in the last few days alone, ex-ministers Malusi Gigaba and Mosebenzi Zwane have been dragged through the mud at the Zondo Commission. Therefore, Ramaphosa’s call to reject corruption is likely to be sneered at by his Parliamentary opposition:
“I call on you to demonstrate, with your vote, your intolerance for corruption, theft, and mismanagement of the funds that are meant for the benefit of you, the citizen. Whether you are in a village, a town, a city, a metro, or a farm I call on you to decide who among the many candidates has the ability and the determination to work tirelessly on your behalf.”

Cyril speaks out for ‘vulnerable’ gay community
President Ramaphosa also took the time to condemn a recent spate of homophobic murders in South Africa, pledging his support to the LGBTQI+ community. With four gay men slain in the past month, Cyril has boldly declared that those behind these heinous crimes will be ‘found and processed’ by the judiciary:
“We must speak out and report any instances of GBV, even if the perpetrators are close to us. As a country, we must say no to homophobia and all forms of intolerance against members of the LGBTQI+ community. Over the past few months there have been a series of terrible crimes committed against members of this community, including murder.”
“This is something of which we as a nation are deeply ashamed. I want to send a strong message that hate crime will not be tolerated in our society and that those behind these crimes will be found and brought to book. These are problems common to us all and they impact us all.” | Cyril Ramaphosa
Let us not abandon hope that we can become the country our forebears fought for.

Let us not give in to doubt and pessimism. Let us keep striving.
Step by step, brick by brick, let us build this nation together.
