Portimao MotoGP: Quartararo wins from pole, Binder shows great fight

Fabio Quartararo dominated the Portimao MotoGP from pole position and claimed victory on his Monster Yamaha.

Francesco Bagnaia fought his way through the field to finish second having been denied pole by a very tight track limit violation in Saturday’s qualifying.

Reigning MotoGP world champion Joan Mir completed the podium after Johann Zarco crashed out from the lead group late in the race.

Red Bull KTM rider Brad Binder produced a great ride to gather more points for his team having started 15th and finished fifth.

Franco Morbidelli’s fourth place ensured that Yamaha were the only manufacturer with two bikes in the top six.

Aleix Espargaro wrestled his Aprilla into sixth ahead of the Marquez brothers who finished 7th and 8th.

Marc Marquez was in the points on his return to racing after a bad break to his arm suffered last year.
