Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly return to winning ways in Egypt

Al Ahly returned to winning ways in the Egyptian Premier League after claiming a 3-1 victory over ENPPI on Saturday, 24 April.

Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly were coming off a shock defeat against Smouha last Wednesday and entered the match seeking nothing less than the three points on offer in order to maintain the pressure on league leaders and bitter rivals Zamalek.

Al Ahly got off to a flying start with winger Hussein El-Shahat scoring after just 33 seconds.

The goal was the ninth-fastest ever scored in the Egyptian top-flight.

Just two minutes later, Mohamed Sherif doubled Al Ahly’s lead.

With half-time looming, Amr El-Sulya put the game to bed with a spectacular finish into the right-hand top corner.

ENPPI started the second half much better and managed to pull a goal back from the penalty spot in the 55th minute through Ramy Sabry after he was brought down inside the penalty area by Saad Samir.

Following their win, Al Ahly sit in second place in the standings with 33 points, three behind leaders Zamalek.

However, Al Ahly still have two matches in hand.

Pitso Mosimane’s men will now shift their focus on Tuesday, 27 April’s encounter against fourth-placed Al Masry.

Kick-off is at 21:30 SA time.
