CAF Champions League: Top SA referee to take charge of key clash

Top referee Victor Gomes will head the South African delegation of match officials for the CAF Champions League match between Tunisia’s Esperance de Tunis and MC Alger of Algeria at Tunis’ Stade Olympique.

The match – at this stage – is scheduled to be the final clash in Group D on Saturday, 10 April.

Gomes will be assisted by counterparts Zakhele Siwela who will be the first Assistant Referee while Athenkosi Ndongeni will be the second Assistant Referee.

The fourth official for the encounter will Akhona ‘She-Ref’ Makalima.

Gamal Salem Embaia of Libya will be the match Commissioner while Mustapha Slaoui of Morocco will be the General Coordinator.

Victor Gomes, 38, has been a FIFA international referee since 2011.
