It’s official: Lay’s Salt and Vinegar chips ARE back on sale
In a victory for snack lovers across the country, Lay’s has confirmed that their discontinued Salt and Vinegar flavour has returned to supermarket shelves. It follows days of speculation about the mysterious reappearance of the blue packets.
Several prominent social media accounts shared pictures of the Salt and Vinegar bags, despite them being removed from sale in February 2020 – things really did take a turn for the worse when this happened, hey?
Good news: Lay’s HAS brought back Salt and Vinegar chips
However, motivated by nostalgia – and pressure from the general public – Lay’s eventually gave in. They confirmed that Salt and Vinegar was back in business, even if it came in the form of a slightly cryptic Tweet:
I know I left things on a salty note, but I want to remind you I'm #notyouraverage snack. So much love. Clearly I was sorely missed

The fight for Salt and Vinegar lasted a year
Celebrities like The Kiffness were also doing all they could to get the ‘forgotten flavour’ back into stores. A spokesperson for Lay’s stated last year that Salt and Vinegar simply ‘was not as popular’ as the other brands, and fell by the wayside. But the company may have underestimated the appetite South Africans have for this old classic.

The chips are down: Lay’s finally reveal the big news
In the past seven days, the Lay’s Twitter account has been bombarded by requests for clarity. They had previously chosen to talk in riddles rather than provide any proper answers. But, by the weekend, they eventually gave in…
You know sometimes Tshepi, dreams do come true and sometimes they don’t #notyouraverage
