Proteas skipper Quinton de Kock has won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test against Pakistan in Karachi.

The Proteas have made two changes since their last Test against Sri Lanka with George Linde and Kagiso Rabada coming in for Wiaan Mulder and Lutho Sipamla.

– The only Test match the Proteas have ever lost in Pakistan came in Lahore in 2003. The only Test played in Karachi was in 2007, when South Africa won by 160 runs

– Kagiso Rabada is three wickets away from 200 Test victims. Should he get there in Karachi, he will become the third quickest South African to the landmark, following Dale Steyn (39 Tests) and Allan Donald (42)

– Quinton de Kock will be playing in his 50th Test
