Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  1. Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, hail, localized flooding, and excessive lightning can be expected in places over the eastern half of the Eastern Cape as well as KwaZulu- Natal from the afternoon.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm, but hot in the north.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but fine and very hot in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated showers and thundershowers but fine in the east.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with afternoon thundershowers in the central and eastern areas.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with afternoon thundershowers in the central and eastern areas.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy in the southwest at first where it will becoming partly cloudy and cool, otherwise fine and warm to hot.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy to cloudy in the west in the morning, becoming sunny and cool to warm, otherwise cloudy with rain and showers in the east, clearing by late morning, but persisting along the coast and adjacent interior into the evening.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be strong south-easterly, but moderate to fresh along the south coast.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Fine and warm in the north west, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread south of the escarpment.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate westerly in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh south easterly, but strong in places during the afternoon.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread south of the escarpment.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh south-westerly, becoming southerly in the south from late afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Fine in places with morning mist over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm, but hot in places over the interior. Scattered showers and
thundershowers are expected in the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to northeasterly, becoming southerly to south-westerly from the south from the late morning, spreading north-wards.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
