PSL news: Five transfers you may have missed

The PSL transfer window opened last month, triggering a hive of activity in preparation for the upcoming season.

PSL transfer window kicks into gear

Some high-profile signings have already been completed since the window opened, with Orlando Pirates welcoming four additions to their squad, while Mamelodi Sundowns have also been busy in the market, securing the signature of Supersport United’s Aubrey Modiba in an impressive haul of new recruits.

The other member of the “big three”, Kaizer Chiefs are rendered unable to conclude any business due to the pending appeal of their transfer ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sports.

The league runners-up will hope that the outcome favours them, as they are in pole position to land the services of highly-rated Bafana defender S’fiso Hlanti, who is already training with the club.

Under the radar

Outside of the traditional giants of the South African game, there has been a hive of activity as well.

Ahead of their return to the top flight, Soweto outfit Moroka Swallows have been among the busier sides.

The Dube Birds signed winger, Moeketsi Makhanya from first-division side JDR Stars and also swooped in for journeyman Musa Nyatama, who last turned out for the now-defunct Highlands Park.

Another player set to turn out in the iconic maroon is Ruzaigh Gamaldien, who joined from Chippa United.

The Eastern Cape-based outfit has also been among the busiest sides, welcoming no less than six signings ahead of the new PSL season.

Ryan Rae, Sizwe Mdlinzo, Eva Nga Bienvenu, Wandisile Letlabika, Riaan Hanamub and Isaac Nhlapo have all been unveiled by the Chilli Boys in the past week. The club also offloaded 15 players ahead of their move to East London.

Cape Town City, on the other hand, have seen a few departures from their roster.

Goalkeeper Sage Stephens joined rivals Stellenbosch, while defender Ebrahim Seedat is off to top-flight newcomers TS Galaxy.

On the same day City bid farewell to Seedat, Golden Arrows announced two signings of their own in Sello Motsepe and Pule Mmodi from Highlands Park and Uthongathi, respectively.
