Franschhoek’s Uncorked Festival is happening in November
Pack away those COVID blues and welcome spring in style at this year’s Uncorked Festival that promises to be a day of unforgettable memories.
The festival offers a fantastic opportunity to samples some of the season’s new release wines, including white wines, rosés, MCCs, and summer-inspired red varietals from participating wineries in and around the valley.
The festival will also have a variety of great food options and live music to add to the atmosphere, as well as a few special events such as Chardonnay and sushi pairing and tractor rides through the vineyards.
Nestled in the heart of one of the Cape’s most beautiful wine regions, the quaint village of Franschhoek was originally founded by the French Huguenots after their exodus to Africa.
Today, this little French corner is lovingly known as the “Food and Wine Capital of the Cape”, producing superb wines and French-inspired cuisine, and drawing foodies, aficionados, and gourmands from around the globe.
Festival programme features some of the top wine farms in the valley
The festival will host well-known and favourite wine estates as well as smaller vineyards, all of which will be showcasing their new release wines for the season.
These include Plaisir de Merle, Boschendal, Lynx, Topiary, Paserene, Leopard’s Leap, Glenwood, Rickety Bridge, Grande Provence, Holden Manz, and La Bri.
Each farm will present different offerings from complimentary wine tastings and brunch and lunch options to live music, and more.
Special Events at the Franschhoek Uncorked Festival
Several special events will be held over the festival, ranging from a Cellar Master Tasting with Takuan von Arnim at Haute Cabrière and a Rothko Rosé brunch at Holden Manz to a Nature’s Window Walk & Wine Tasting at Glenwood and a classical music concert with a three-course wine pairing lunch at Grande Provence.
You can also enjoy chocolate and wine pairing at Boschendal, wine tastings with the winemaker from La Bri, and dinner with Chef Reuben at Holden Manz.
The event will be held in line with COVID-19 safety regulations, which will be in place at all establishments as per Level 1 regulations.
