Fish Tacos – Bring some new flavours to Taco Tuesday

Taco Tuesdays is a growing trend which started in many major cities in the United States of America. It’s a celebration of the tasty treats of all kinds of foods stuffed into tortillas, all hailing from Mexico. This weekly celebration has caught on in adapted by many families across the world. Usually filled with minced beef, pork or chicken with salad or salsa, they are a true family-favourite. Next time Taco Tuesday comes along, let our Fish Tacos recipe surprise you and your family.

The great thing about tacos is that you can serve each ingredient individually and let everybody choose how they layer and load their taco shells. This recipe is so quick and easy to make. One of those reasons is that fish doesn’t take long to cook at all, which cuts down on cooking time and leaves a lot more for family time. You can also make your salsa or guacamole spicier by adding chili flakes to either or some chopped jalapeno peppers to your salsa. You can also make 2 different servings for those who love spice and those who don’t. Also, it is very easy to double this recipe for more people.

Fresh fish is a fun way to recreate your tacos at home in a quick and effortless way. Taco Tuesday will never be the same again.

Fish Tacos Recipe

Ingredients

  • 800 g fresh hake

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 cloves garlic, diced

  • 1 tbsp Nomu fish rub

  • 2 lemons, juiced

  • salt & pepper (to taste)

  • 8 taco shells

  • 2 avocados

  • 180 g rocket

  • 250 ml creme fraiche (Sour Cream will work too)

  • salsa (suggestion: Woolworths Peppadew Piquanté Pepper Salsa – Medium)

  • 2 cups cheddar, grated

Method

  • FISH FILLING
  • Pre-Heat the Oven to 180°C
  • In a pan melt the butter and add the diced garlic.
  • Squeeze in the lemon juice of 1 lemon and add in the Hake to the pan and fry for 5 minutes on each side on medium to high heat.
  • Place the Taco Shells in the oven to heat for no longer than 5 minutes.
  • GUAKAMOLE
  • Mash-up the avos into a separate bowl.
  • Add in some fresh lemon juice.
  • Add in the diced onion.
  • PLATING
  • Place the guacamole, the salsa and the grated cheese in separate bowls to serve.
  • Serve your pan-fried Hake on a plate alongside the taco shells.
  • Let everyone build their own taco and enjoy!
