‘Stroop’ duo introduces new ‘Kingdoms Of Fire, Ice and Fairy Tales’ documentary

The South African makers of the multi award-winning documentary StroopJourney Into The Rhino Wars have followed up with another groundbreaking film called Kingdoms Of Fire, Ice and Fairy Tales.

About Kingdoms Of Fire, Ice and Fairy Tales:

It is said that Director Susan Scott and producer-presenter Bonne de Bod came up with Kingdoms Of Fire, Ice and Fairy Tales while they were on the film festival circuit for Stroop in California. After Stroop took them four years to investigate, they eventually went on to do the film festival circuit around the world. Then when they ended up at Yosemite National Park the two of them knew exactly what to do next:

“The documentary is a departure for the duo from their investigative film making as they look at iconic wildernesses in three locations: Yellowstone National Park in America; the Black Forest in Germany; and the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland. Originally planned as a television series, the national lockdown brought the filming to a halt and the filmmakers had to adapt and even included the COVID-19 storyline into the film to bring relevance to our searching for a way forward in these new times.”

On Facebook, it was revealed that Kingdoms Of Fire, Ice and Fairy Tales will premiere at the Silwerskermfees on Friday, 4 September 2020 with a filmmaker Q&A afterwards. At its premiere, Scott said that they are thrilled to share their second film as it is completely different from Stroop.

Here they said that the visuals are particularly special and beautiful in this documentary:

“Sometimes the end product is actually better than the product you planned in the beginning, and that’s what happened in Kingdoms,” Scott said during the webinar.

So, what did they ultimately find?

“That the planet never disappoints. And while their beautiful imagery moves us with untouched, incredible nature, the filmmakers seek out legendary stories on overcoming fear and rejuvenating souls. Reminding us that we are all still connected to where we come from. ‘Kingdoms’ motivates us to move into the next part of our lives with healing and positive expectation.”
