Orlando Pirates star arrested for domestic violence – report

An Orlando Pirates player has been arrested for domestic violence, according to a report by KickOff.

The 27-year-old allegedly committed the offence shortly before the PSL club entered the bio-bubble in preparation for the league restart in August.

According to the publication, the player is one of the club’s stars and plays as a midfielder.

Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela confirmed the arrest, which occurred on Monday.

“Yes, it’s true. A 27-year-old man alleged to be a soccer player was arrested in the early hours of this morning on charges related to domestic violence,” Makhubela told KickOff.

The player, who was charged at Midrand Police Station, can only be named once he appears in court.

The incident comes just days after Orlando Pirates completed their league campaign, where they finished third in the standings after a win over Stellenbosch on Saturday.

Their placing on the log means that they will compete in the Caf Confederations Cup in the upcoming season.
