‘F*** Mandela’ – Donald Trump accused of foul-mouthed rant against Madiba

A lawyer who represented Donald Trump during his campaign for office and the early days of his presidency is set to drop a tell-all memoir (Disloyal) on the alleged chaos he witnessed at the White House during POTUS’ first term. Michael Cohen’s new book makes a string of allegations against Trump – including a highly offensive opinion on Nelson Mandela.

Disloyal: Michael Cohen on Donald Trump

According to Cohen, Trump is disparaging towards black leaders in general. He once told his personal lawyer that he believes ‘all countries run by black people are s***holes’ – mirroring the controversial comments he made in 2018.

Amongst other claims, Donald Trump is said to have been ‘awe-struck’ by the authoritarian leadership of Vladimir Putin, and financial interests pushed the leader of the free world to cosy-up with the Russian President. The book also delves deeper into Trump’s uncomfortable relationship with race – and his less-than-flattering take on Mandela’s leadership.

What Donald Trump is accused of saying about Nelson Mandela

One passage in the publication quotes Trump as saying the following, when referring to Madiba and South Africa:

“Mandela f***** the whole country up. Now it’s a s***hole. F*** Mandela. He was no leader… Tell me one country run by a black person that isn’t a s***hole. They are all complete f****** toilets.”

What Donald Trump is alleged to have said to Michael Cohen

The president and allegations of racism

This behaviour would certainly be in stark contrast to what Donald Trump has previously Tweeted about Mandela. The president said he enjoyed a ‘wonderful’ relationship with South Africa’s most famous son – even though their interactions barely go further than one ride on a private jet.

Trump has previously branded South Africa a ‘crime-ridden mess’, and given his history of controversial statements on race, Cohen’s accusations are likely to put The Donald in a very awkward position with black voters, just weeks before the crucial November elections.
