Unleash your sweet tooth with these Caramel Cupcakes

If Caramel’s your taste, then these deliciously sweet caramel cupcakes are for you!

Anything caramel is decadently different and these beautiful treats are no different. You can make them extra large and serve them as dessert or you can enjoy them as an after dinner treat.

Take it from me, just one bite of this caramel cupcake and you’ll be hooked on its deliciousness… It is the best way to satisfy your sweet tooth craving!

    When that craving hits there is not much to do but to satisfy it. So what better way to satisfy it that with these caramel cupcakes.

    Ingredients

    • CARAMEL CUPCAKES INGREDIENTS:
    • 250 g margarine

    • 2 1/2 cups flour

    • 3 tsp baking powder

    • 1/4 tsp bicarb

    • 1 1/4 cup Caramel Brown sugar or the sugar of your choice

    • 1/2 cup buttermilk

    • 3/4 cup milk

    • 1 tsp Caramel essence

    • CARAMEL ICING INGREDIENTS:
    • 1/2 cup butter/ margarine

    • 1/2 tsp caramel essence

    • 1 TBS caramel treat

    • 1 1/2 to 2 cups icing sugar

    • Few drops milk (optional)

    • Caramel treat for decorating

    Method

    • CARAMEL CUPCAKES METHOD:
    • Cream together the margarine and sugar.
    • Add the caramel essence and then the buttermilk and beat well. Mix the dry ingredients together and then sift, alternating with the milk to form a thick batter.
    • Place in a round or square cake pan and bake for +/- 20 minutes. This mixture can make +/- 20 cupcakes. Decorate as desired.
    • CARAMEL ICING METHODS:
    • Cream the butter, then add the caramel essence. Beat in the caramel treat and add enough icing sugar to make a smooth icing.
    • *Add a few drops of milk if you want to get a smoother icing consistency.
    • Pipe rosettes around the cupcakes with a star nozzle and then add a teaspoon of caramel treat in the centre.
    • Or decorate as desired.
