Club tells ex-PSL coach to ‘leave Tanzania’, following his racist outburst
Footballing firebrand Luc Eymael has been fired from his position as the manager of Young Africans (otherwise known as Yanga Club) in Tanzania’s top division after he went on a highly-offensive rant about football fans and officials in the country. The former PSL coach has also been told to leave the nation ‘as soon as possible’.
The extraordinary events took place on Sunday when Eymael was asked about a recent match. He labelled some of the club fans as ‘monkeys’, and expressed his deep dissatisfaction with his time in the country. The manager is no stranger to bust-ups and even had a famous war of words with Steve Komphela.
What Luc Eymael said about football fans in Tanzania
An official statement was released on Monday, with Young Africans confirming the Belgian’s departure. They took a leaf out of his book, and certainly didn’t hold back with their criticisms:
“The Young Africans [Yanga] leadership is saddened by the rude and discriminatory statements made by its coach Luc Eymael and spread on social media.”
“Some of those statements by coach Luc Eymael (include) accusing the fans that they have no education‚ the people in this country are stupid‚ the fans do not know football their job is to shout like monkeys and ducks‚ club leaders are zero and the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) exists only for Lions.”
“Due to these racist statements‚ the Yanga Club leadership has decided to fire coach Luc Eymael from today (27 July 2020) and ensure he leaves the country as soon as possible.”

Ex-PSL coach in racist outburst
Luc Eymael has previously managed three clubs in South Africa: Polokwane City, Black Leopards, and Free State Stars. He won the Nedbank Cup with the latter but left the club in November 2018 before their eventual relegation. His stays have always been short, rather than sweet.
As alluded to in the club statement, Luc Eymael made some truly horrendous utterances, implying that the fans do not have the capacity to understand his tactical knowledge and that they ‘bark like dogs’. The racist language deployed by the contentious coach has landed him with a one-way ticket out of Tanzania.
