In photos: Snow turns parts of Western Cape into a winter wonderland
You love to see it: The Western Cape experienced its first major snow event of 2020 on Monday, and the pictures are truly a sight for sore eyes. As temperatures plummeted across the province, the white stuff made landfall late in the afternoon. Despite lockdown, there were a few citizens able to capture the beauty of it all.
Where will snow fall in South Africa on Tuesday 26 May?
According to the South African Weather Service, disruptive snowfall is coming to the Little Karoo and Eastern Cape on Tuesday. There will be temporary road closures at high-altitude locations. The Northern Cape and the peaks of Lesotho are next in line to experience snow on Tuesday, and the mercury is staying low…

Flurries in the Western Cape
The Ceres Mountains, Worcester, and other high peaks of the Western Cape received the bulk of the snow flurries on Monday. The blizzard-like conditions had even managed to close roads and mountain passes. In fact, this cold front is now sweeping east, and promises to replicate these hazardous conditions elsewhere.
Saws are also warning of a severe frost expected over the Free State, eastern and southern Northern Cape, and the northern interior of the Eastern Cape on Wednesday.
