DStv: These subscribers now get ’16 new channels’ as part of a free upgrade
Stuck indoors with nowhere to go, lockdown has taken its toll on South Africans. With the country seemingly in this predicament for the long haul, DStv have decided to soften the blow for a large section of their subscriber base. Compact customers emerge as the big winners, but Plus and Premium clients also have something to celebrate.
It was confirmed earlier on Monday that there would be ‘at least 16 channels’ added to the bouquet currently offered to Compact subscribers. For their R399 monthly fee, this particular demographic will be getting more mileage out of their money. However, it must be noted that this upgrade is only in place until 29 May.
What channels will DStv Compact subscribers get free in May?
Around 7.5 million people have a DStv subscription in South Africa, with a large number of clients opting for the Compact package. The channels made temporarily available in this bouquet include:
- 1Magic
- M-Net Binge
- Comedy Central
- kykNET
- Africa Magic Urban Movies
- CBS Justice
- Curiosity Stream
- History
- Nickelodeon
- Nick Jr
- CBeebies
- MTV Music
- SuperSport 8
- SuperSport 12
- SuperSport 13
- Sky News
Compact Plus, Premium subscribers also get a boost
Predictably, customers on the Compact Plus and Premium packages were left wondering if they’d been overlooked, given that they pay the most for their entertainment bundle. Well, M-Net has come through for them: It’s specialist HBO channel – M-Net Binge (DStv 114) – will now run for an extra two months for these customers.
HBO are world-renowned for their incredible dramas and documentary specials. Shows such as Westworld, The Sopranos, and True Blood will stay on our screens until Sunday 28 June. However, there are some time and broadcasting restrictions in place due to the channel’s age-sensitive content.
GOOD NEWS! M-Net Binge – The Home of HBO on @DStv channel 114 has been extended to 28 June 2020 (subject to change). However, due to the high age-restricted series, the channel's opening time will move to 20:00 on weekdays and 19:00 on weekends. It's time to BINGE!
