Watch: Somerset Mall roof collapses… again [video]
Part of the roof structure at Somerset Mall collapsed on Thursday morning, just months after a similar incident last year that left one person injured.
The mall, which is situated outside Cape Town between Somerset West and Strand, is currently being evacuated, however, it is unclear whether there were any injuries.
“The City’s Fire & Rescue services are on the scene,” said spokesperson Jermaine Carelse.

The structure came tumbling down near the mall’s Wimpy outlet, almost certainly spoiling early riser’s breakfast.
The same section of the roof collapsed in August 2019.
One person was hurt on that occasion when debris fell from above.
This is a developing story – more details to follow
