Social media has been rocked by a recent video showing how a man was attacked by a Joburg CBD gang on a busy street, in broad daylight.
Watch: Joburg CBD gang attacks victim in broad daylight
The video has gone viral and people have criticised law enforcement in Joburg CBD for lacking visibility in areas that are infamous for violent crimes.
Jozi CBD has many crime hotspots. This has been happening for years. South Africa Police Service is failing innocent civilians because they know the areas, they know all the Hotspots, crimes such as these are always happening and no one seems to care. pic.twitter.com/eOpuKy5YXL

In the video, five suspects were seen attacking a victim. One of the suspects held the victim in a chokehold while others scoured in his pockets for valuables.
Onlookers could do nothing but watch on in dismay while punches were thrown at the victim who did not stand a chance against five suspects.
While the condition of the victim is not known, he did manage to free himself from the Joburg CBD gang and make off with his life. The quality of the video is poor so the item that fell out of the victim’s back pocket could not be made out and it is not clear, at this time, if the suspects actually took the victim’s belongings.
