South Africa vs Australia third T20I at Newlands: Preview

South Africa vs Australia: South Africa levelled matters in Port Elizabeth but will have to break Australia’s five-match winning streak in T20Is at Newlands to win the series.

Australia have lost just once in the shortest format at the venue, and that was in the very first T20I played at Newlands when they were stunned by Zimbabwe.

The tourists feel that they blew a chance to clinch the series when they fell short chasing 159 to win at St George’s Park.

The Proteas will be desperate to give themselves a lift with a first series win of the home summer.

Runs scored in the powerplay could very well determine the outcome of the match.

South Africa vs Australia: Key Players

Quinton de Kock is at the heart of what the Proteas will be trying to do at Newlands. The skipper has been the best batsman for South Africa this summer.

Lungi Ngidi was the difference for South Africa in Port Elizabeth picking up key wickets that halted the Australian charge. He will once again need to step up and produce more of the same.

David Warner batted through Australia’s innings at St George’s Park but couldn’t get his team over the line. The determined Aussie opener is in great form, and that disappointment should spur him on to greater heights at Newlands.

Ashton Agar has been a thorn in the Proteas side this series bowling brilliantly in the victory at the Wanderers to claim career-best figures of 5/24. The Proteas kept him wicketless in PE, but he was still able to put pressure on the batsmen.
