Hijacking in Gauteng: Vereeniging woman killed by gang of four
There’s a swell of anger in the south of Gauteng on Wednesday, after a married couple were targeted by an armed gang near Vereeniging. The male was ejected from the vehicle, and although he was found safe, his partner was murdered during the ordeal on the R550.
Vereeniging hijacking: Mother murdered in south Gauteng
There was a desperate plea on Facebook by the pair’s daughter, who begged for any information on the matter. Maleni Pillay confirmed their vehicle had been found, but sadly, there was no sign of her mother.
It’s understood that Selvin and Priscilla Pillay were hijacked just after 22:00 on Tuesday night, as they were making their way home to Vereeniging. They drove off with Mrs Pillay still on board. Four suspects are believed to have been involved in the kidnapping, after holding the woman hostage.
They were ultimately unsuccessful in an alleged pursuit of a ransom, eventually killing their victim and dumping the car on Heidelberg Road in Klipriver. It’s been ascertained that the thugs had been driving a white Golf GTi – with blue lights – but aren’t involved in law enforcement. The souped-up motor is a key point of focus in this investigation, as it was used to stalk their targets.
Unusual elements to hijacking
The crime itself is bizarre in its nature. It’s not very often a male will be so delicately handled, whereas a female partner is brutally disposed of. We’re still trying to verify claims that the hijackers were planning to secure a fortune for the release of Priscilla Pillay, as well: SAPS certainly have a puzzle to piece together.
Cases of murder, hijacking and robbery are already under investigation by cops in Vereeniging. This is a tragedy that demands a swift response, and justice must be served for the Pillay family.
Sad news: JUST IN: R550 Klipriver. Couple hijacked. Male released unharmed. Female taken hostage and she has been found murdered. Four suspects in plain clothes driving a white GTI with blue lights. A case of murder, hijacking and robbery is being investigated. #NoToCrime
