Lesedi School Shooting: Robbers stopped in their tracks
The dramatic incident was reported to have happened just before midnight. The school’s principal arrived at the facility to assess the situation, before alerting the relevant authorities. It’s understood that the burglar died immediately, whereas the other two robbers were able to make a frantic escape.
A statement on the matter has since been shared online by Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi. He revealed that the thieves were trying to get away with various electronic items, and explained how the security guards managed to react to the situation as quickly as possible.
“Three suspects were spotted on the surveillance camera breaking into the admin block using an assortment of tools. They managed to enter and ransacked the offices, taking computers, speakers and other items. They were also seen tampering with the school’s alarm systems.”
“Secuirty personnel moved out of the guardhouse to occupy safe and strategic positions. As the suspects jumped from the office, one of them was shot dead by the security guard. The security team then contacted the principal to report the incident, and urged him to come to the school himself.”

Violence meets violence in Gauteng
It has been a testing time for MEC Lesufi. In his capacity as the provincial education minister, he is required to be one of the first port of calls when there is a serious incident. He’s dealt with several cases this year which have been emotionally devastating, but in this incident, no learners or children were harmed.
