Stellenbosch vs Bloemfontein Celtic: PSL live scores, kick-off time, prediction and preview
As things stand in the PSL, Stellenbosch are heading for the promotion/relegation playoffs. They will look to escape 15th place when they host Bloemfontein Celtic at Cape Town Stadium on Tuesday.
Stellies ended last year off on a high note with a 1-0 win away to Baroka. A 2-0 home defeat to an admittedly strong Bidvest Wits side was far from an ideal start to 2020.
“Overall, I thought we gave as good as we gave them,” Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker told SuperSport TV post-match. “I felt the scoreline probably flattered Wits. They had one shot in the first half and they got the goal.”
Barker also bemoaned the officiating during the game, but admitted that Stellies ultimately came up short of where they needed to be.
“Overall, I thought there were good moments. I think certainly there were things that we didn’t do as well as we could do, which we’ve worked on and we have to do better,” he said.
“We’ve got a short turnaround. We play here on Tuesday against Bloemfontein Celtic and we’ve got to get over this loss. We’ve got a big game coming up.”
Although Bloem Celtic are ninth on the table, they are only three points ahead of their hosts. A victory would go some way towards ensuring they can forget about the relegation scrap and rather focus on their top eight ambitions this season.
Kick-off time and prediction
